Night Flowers Project

 About Night Flowers

Night Flowers photo series displays the beauty and personality of flowers when the lights go on. Some of the photos are of my favourite Fynbos flowers which are unique to the Western Cape in South Africa. Here I photographed them at night, in all their finery, ready for an outing.

“What I really enjoy about Robert Nzaou’s work - his explorations of hair, water and now plants - is that his keen interest in behaviour and personality is presented so gently and at the same time so stirringly. When he turns his curious, sensitive and loving eye onto things he does so in a visually satisfying way. His photographs are usually beautiful. Then, while one gazes with pleasure at the beauty he offers up, the subject matter starts to flower in one’s mind and heart and the social statement Nzaou is expressing begins to make its case. His own deep questions about who we are and why we do the things we do reverberate within the beholder of his work. We get to know our own selves more through our reactions to what he is displaying. These are inner conversations I love to have and I appreciate Nzaou‘s ability to catalyst them through his respectful and beautiful treatment of the objects in his photographs..”
